What we do
PPM can provide teams to manage some or all of the following areas within the paint shop process. We can also provide specialist support to assist with specific paint, process or application issues, and provide you with initiatives to help drive up quality and drive down costs. Throughout, we have operating procedures with work instructions and risk assessment to minimise health and safety risks.
Paint Mix Room
This is a fundamental part of the service, we manage all incoming material, and usually provide teams on multiple shifts. We also provide forklift trained personnel where required and we have an internal forklift trainer who trains and certifies our employees.
Pre-treatment
We manage this process to ensure all the material is kept within optimum operating parameters and we maximise the efficiency of the process to ensure the product’s initial treatment is of the highest quality. Any dirt or other contamination has a high potential to have a significant impact here, so we keep the area clean and sanitised as much as possible.
Electrocoat
We look after the electrocoat tank, often 24/7, to ensure the material remains stable at optimum quality and quantity. Part of this process is also to monitor the oven baking process, where the control of various parameters are critical to the quality of the paint finish.
Paint applications
This is another critical area of the process that we manage, because it is where the base coat and clearcoat are applied. Film thicknesses and colour matching are fundamental to the success of the process and we measure each vehicle carefully and consistently in line with customer and PPM directives.
REFINISH AREAS
We do supply refinish experts to help with rectification, to ensure the consistent quality of the paint finish.
Defect surveying
A constant problem in car factories is the presence of particles, fibres and other painting and production related defects which find their way onto the car bodies at some stage during the process.
We provide experienced defect analysts who can identify defects, ascertain where they originate and put measures in place to eliminate them.
Data collection, analysis & reporting
PPM provide data analysts to ensure all the data collected from the areas above is properly recorded and reported on.
This data enables the team to make constant adjustments to the process and request improvements to the process to ensure that maximum first time through rates are achieved and maintained.
Special Vehicle Orders
We can mix specialist small batches of product on site for customers who require this on a regular basis.
Technical Support
In addition to the onsite team, PPM has invested in a team of specialists in different areas that can be called onto site to perform problem solving, process improvements, in depth dirt analysis, etc.
Project Support
Our project teams work to support customers with specific paint issues, which can range in duration from one week to several months, depending on the complexity of the task. Areas of project work include paint application, robotic programming, pre-treatment improvement, electrocoat optimisation, supporting new colour introductions and material changes.
